Pics October 08

October 2008

Sorry I'm behind in blogging, but we have been super busy! Derick's dad, Dale and his wife, Pam came to see us in October this year. We had a SUPER fun time showing them around the area where we live. We also went to Barcelona, Spain, Dublin,Ireland, and Rome, Italy. They were three amazing trips.
Barcelona was fun; we had a bit of trouble finding a hotel, but that was because we couldn't read a map for a little while. Haha... But we found one, and then found the shopping. The second day we were there Derick and I found the beach. YES, I was on a beach in October! And ~ it was like 70 degrees or so. I absolutely LOVED IT!
Ireland was my favorite because we rented a car and drove to the west coast. There, we stayed in a cute little town called Galway, and the shops and food was great. It was definitely cold! You can tell in our pictures the wind was blowing because my hair looks rediculous. haha...The second day in Ireland we drove to the cliffs. I will never forget what a remarkable sight it is! It was beautiful, we got there at dusk, just as the sun was setting.
Rome was also a very fun trip; however unless there were the sights to see there it wouldn't have been so fun. The city of Rome really looks like a big ghetto, but the colluseum perks it right up! The Colluseum was our favortie sight, but we saw all of them! We saw St. Peter's, where the pope lives in Vatican City, the Sistine Chapel, The Roman Forum, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier... So much stuff to see!
We had such a great trip with Dale and Pam, we are so grateful that they got to come over and share some fun experiences with us.

Palma de Mallorca

Derick and I got to go on an awesome vacation this July. We went the week of my birthday so I turned 22 in Spain! YAY! I just made this blogspot, so sorry you couldn't see and hear about it until now. We went to Palma de Mallorca, a little party island off of the coast of Spain. It is absolutely amazing there! I think the pictures will talk for themselves. We stayed at a resort that was about a block from the beach, we had a nice view of it from our room window. Our resort was all inclusive, which was nice because we didn't have to spend extra money on meals and drinks. They even had yummy cocktails at the bar that were included! YES!! We stayed for 7 days, and it was just so awesome! We are used to cold weather in Germany, the hottest it gets during the summer is maybe 80-ish, so it was really warm for us in Mallorca, in the 90's. I got a nice tan, and Derick got sunburnt! We will never forget our trip.

On the third day, we decided to go for a bike ride and ended up riding for 24 kilometers. It was crazy long~ but so worth it! We rode into the capital and saw the cathedral and rode back. 24 kilometers= about 16 or so miles. Yeah, our legs hurt!
The next day, we decided to be more adventurous, and we tried to find these cool underground caves. We had to take a bus to the train station, ride the train to another bus, take a bus to the middle of nowhere and then .... Well, we ended up walking for an hour and a half and not finding the caves! We stopped at a little hotel and called a cab back to the train station. I was so pissed that there wasn't better transportation out to these TOURIST caves! I mean seriously, if you want people to go, why don't you make sure they can get there? We aren't from there! SHEESH! Needless to say, our legs hurt that night too.
The rest of the week we laid around on the beach and drank cocktails by the pool. We truly had an amazing time and we will never forget it!
